        HI Guys

        Thanks for your past answers.

        I have been offered a Boxford STS1020 or a Myford ML10.

Which would be the better buy

        Thanks Smudge

The boxford, without a doubt, provided it's in good nick.

The Boxford is a lot more complicated and may be a 3 phase supply

If it's in good nick and got it's bits and you can accomodate it then it's a very desirable purchase, a serious bit of kit

                It's a lot of lathe

                **LINK**

Top of the range was the STS, a lathe virtually identical to the 10.30 Industrial model with a fully enclosed, all-lever-operated, oil-bath lubricated dual English/Metric screwcutting and feeds gearbox that provided 39 metric threads from 0.2 to 7 mm and 34 English from 3.5 to 80 t.p.i.

If it is, just change the motor wiring from star to delta and buy an inverter. Infinitely better than single phase.

P.S. Well perhaps not infinitely but certainly much smoother!
