      Myford Imperial/Metric changeover system

At the Sandown Exhibition, someone (possibly a SMEE member)was demonstrating a Myford with an extra banjo in the changewheel train. This allowed easy changeover between metric and imperial by operating a simple dog clutch. The banjo casting and an extended changewheel cover are available from this Gent. Does anyone have a contact address? I seem to lost the note that I made at the time.
Really enjoyed the show, by the way.
        Regards.

The gent in question is D.A.G. Brown, a member of SMEE, sorry no contact address for him.
You can also achieve the same thing a lot easier by just swapping the input driver for the standard 24 tooth to either a 33 or 34 tooth and use the normal gearbox ratios.
There is a slight error this way but not enough to affect anything but leadscrews and NASA related threads. These same tow gears will also do BA threads down to 6BA.
There is often someone on Ebay selling these two gears together with a laminated chart showing the gearbox ratio to select.
For most uses this is a better way than the Myford way of buying a new banjo and gears for metric as you do not have to swap everything over and you still have access to the power feed.

Thanks for the info and for the alternative suggestion, I’ll look into that.

on ebay for metric gear details.
I think they also do useful dividing plates and back issues of ME and MEW.

                    regards David
