I was reading a thread on boring heads on here and the Arron head got quit a bit of support but I can't seam to find them on the net, are they still made if so who sells them and what sort of price am I looking at, just want a boring head of around the 50mm mark with an mt2 shaft, any idea's.

Thank's Brian I have looked and they may be a bit to expensive for me, what are the boring heads like from RDG and Chronos like I know you get what you pay for but that depends on how much you have to start with.

I've had one of the 2" SOBA ones frpm Chronos for several years and apart from replacing a couple of grub screws its been fine.

Try Rotogrip using the link below.

I purchased a Matchling head from them some while ago and am quite pleased with it.

Thay have a special offer going at the moment on the 2MT head (as they had when I got mine)

Hi Alan,

If you're feeling a bit impecunious, a boring head isn't a particularly difficult thing to make. I made mine from two slices of 2" bar on a 3MT blank arbor. Dovetails and a gib strip, a simple arrangement with a 1mm pitch screw to adjust it, and some 3/8" holes for boring bars.

I have seen a further simplification using rectangular slide surfaces.

Perhaps one of the best home-made accessories considering the ratio of effort required to price of a new item.

If you Google; ctc tools boring head

You may find a boring head and bars set one to your liking ….

I have no connection to the company but a number of members of a metalworking group I belong to buy from them service has been good.
