Found this link to a cheap DIY electric welder. devilsecret

And I do mean CHEAP !! Would I use it ? NO

Something that I learnt somwhere told me that salt water and 230V of electricity do not mix. What are your thoughts ?

      Paul.

Has the potential for a great Class Action, maybe?

A very dodgy setup, not sure marigold gloves are approved for electrical safety. Brine starters were used for limiting the current on large motors, when I was an apprentice there was still a couple in use for starting the 600hp motors on the air compressors in our power house. Long gone now though.

And sunglasses for arc welding???? Ouch.

Good trick welding brass to steel with a steel rod though. Must try that some time.

I love the manly pink marigold safety gloves. I can see that might work, the salt water is just a water resistor. Although I suspect there is a welder attached just out of view.

When I was a kid I made an arc light using a 1KW electric fire element and carbon rods from D cells. Great way to top up the skin cancer.

Some of his other videos are great, free electricity anyone? **LINK**
