What fuses Warco lathe and Chester mill

Can someone tell me the correct fuses for a Warco wm14 mill and a Chester DB8 lathe. I bought both second hand and want to get some spare fuses, and can’t see anything in the manual. And can’t read for certain what’s on the fuses in both machines.

Why not ask Chester and Warco? And if they don't respond, or don't know, you might draw a conclusion. My bet is that one of them will respond helpfully …

And it would help if you specify what the fuse does – is it in the mains plug, or for the lighting system, or what?

Both machines have 2 fuses on the control panel. I thought I may get an answer on here before I contact them tomorrow. Also if they are like me at work, I only quote our part number for a bought in item.

This is the Grizzly version of your mill. The fuses are specified on page 4. If you can't find out any other way then this may help.

Hello,

I just took a look at the Grizzly manual. Although the fuses specify 250 V working. I strongly suspect their current ratings will be for the US Market and their mains is likely to about 120 volts. If so, you need to half the current values for UK 240 Volt supplies.

According to the manual for my WM14 mill, it is an 8A fuse.

Thanks for your replies. You’ve now got me thinking, the numbers / letters on the fuse on the control side in the mill looks like it starts with a T. Meaning time delay.

I can confirm Nigel's post that the WM14 manual states that it is 8A. However I would be very surprised if this is a slow blow fuse as they require a significant current surge before they rupture, I would expect that it should be a fast blow fuse so that the semiconductors in the speed control unit suffer the minimum stress before the fuse ruptures. That said I will check what is fitted to my mill as it is still the original fuse that the machine came with to confirm or otherwise which it is.

Plenty of choice on ebay for 8A fuses, slow, medium and quick blow, glass or ceramic bodies.

My WM250V-F lathe has 10 amp fuses in both headstock electrical fuse holders, my WM 16 mill manual doesn't show what the fuse rating is but I suspect it has 10 amp as well as per the Grizzly manual.

I emailed both Warco and Chester. Chester have confirmed 10amp in both fuse holders. I have not heard back from Warco but will update when I do.
