My drill vice just went snap! The casting 'nut' which attaches to the spindle has broken apart, being made of cast. I want to make a new one out of steel but have no idea what the thread is. Its half inch diameter with a squarish profile. Any ideas?

Aren't most vice and G clamp threads Acme threads.

Could be square, butress, ACME or if newish trapizoidal. Put a pickture up and well have a guess, also the pitch would help.
