      Hi all,

here is a video of a visit of a traktor meeting wit modells at display. My colleage had his bandsaw with a combustion motor on display. the model built of the original on display closed by. All his other steam engines had been built on plans, partly his own made after pictures or found in the net. I was underway as video paparazzi with the camera. I was driving with my jaxon steam car build after three pictures I found in the net. I drove around the old city and the town to catch some impressions.

I hope you can enjoy the video.

                Some additional infos,

the bandsaw have a 15 cm³ four stroke engine with about 30° pre ignition, is able to saw up to 1 inch wood and can drive on flat surface. It is not complete ready some parts are missing. It looks very good like the original on display. The elephant is made after pictures and own plan. The 2 inch clayton is constucted after the Robin Dyer design converted to a metric plan. The boiler is enhanced in diameter for more power and easier driving. The engine has a dog clutch for pumping water during standing.

The Jaxon steam car is interpreted after three picture from the net. Scale is ~ 1 : 4 size is chosen after my transport possibilities in a station waggon. The steam engine is a two cylinder bore 40mm and stroke 60mm and have a power of ~0.25 hp dependable of the boiler power. The engine is convertable from two cylinder action for slow speeds, < 3 kph or steep hills, with a linkage lever and two ball valves it is switchable to compound action. In flat or low gradients <2% the car have enough power to drive the allowed 6 kph continously. The compound receiver have its place in the top of the boiler housing. At the downside of the receiver are some pipes like a smithies boiler to heat the condens water away and reheat the steam. This gives better driving behaviour under compound driving. The waterlevel is automatic controlled by electrodes and servos for controlling the bypass valves. The heating is based on selfmade gas burners with an automatic boiler pressure dependable control. The burners are switched in groups of two, four and additional four. With this control the system adapts to the power is needed for driving. The burner are started automatic by electronic igniton and gas solenoid valves. By high pressure the gas burners are cut off before the safety valves can open. Gas Pressure is 50 to 100 mbar. This is all controlled by an arduino and the function is very stable without any problems. The range with one Kg of propane gas is about 7 Km and this is dependable how long you stand still or you are driving. Water consumption is about 1.5 Liter per Kilometer. A hidden switchable electric drive, as alternative, is for to low waterlevel in the tank or boiler, gas or other problems with the steam drive. in this mode I can drive additional 10 Kilometers . So I have safety to come home again. I have driven in two years 446 Km now. Problems I had were mechanical kind some joints are two weak and the spokes of the rear wheels were damaged. I added now reinforced spokes and the problems seams to be gone. And I learned to drive slower on congrete field roads with some bad joints.
