I was looking at the word TUNDISH only yesterday, in a Reader's Digest Atlas of GB, from about 1965. The topic of the section was 'local dialects in UK'. Tunning dish and Vunnel were also used. Tundish extended (then) from Liverpool down through the west midlands to about Bristol.
And as far as I know, the last motor vehicles which had total loss oiling (apart from 2-strokes) were Speedway JAPs.
Wonderful the stuff which lodges in the brain, and gets in the way of remembering useful stuff…
