Hello all, can anyone tell me if they know of an online gear calculator? I know the ratio (1.89:1) but I think that I could get away with 2:1 I also know the center distance of the two gears 103.77mm and the MOD 1.25. But the more I look at the formulas for calculation the more confused I get, I must say that formulas are not my strong point, hence my quest for an online gear calculator.

      Regards Mark P

          Hello Mark P,

This may not be quite what you are looking for, but you can get gearing in the form of 17 teeth driver to 9 teeth driven to give you a ratio 1.888 recurring to achieve a very close approximation to 1.89:1.

So, gears of 85/45 if you have those would do what you need [these are the simple multiples by five of the values 17 and 9

          Regards Brian

module is pcd (mm)/teeth, the inverse of diametral pitch. If you flog through the arithmetic you get either 108/58=1.86 or 57/109 = 1.91, both with a centre distance of 103.75 mm

                In 1.25 Mod 106 / 56 will give you 1.8928 as a ratio with a centre distance of 101.25mm

                Or 108 / 58 wil give you 1.86:1 at a centre distance of 103.75

Thank you all for your help, I seem to have been chasing my tail, maths have never been my forte.
