      A little update, slackened the headstock hold down capscrews, and adjusted the insitu adjustment gadget.

      Got the test bar to virtually no movement along its 16" length, connected the DRO back on the lathe to check there was no cross-slide movement influencing proceedings.

      Upon rotation of test bar, I got about 2 tenths tir either end of the bar.

      I made a pin spanner to adjust the rear bearings, but couldn't get it to move without what I considered undue force, so left them alone.

      I'll live with the slight amount of play in the bearings that I thought I had detected, they run cool anyway, plus I added some 'MolySlip' to the ISO 10 (Tellus 27/Hyd 32) headstock lube oil, a while ago..
