More likely to be the (un?)intended consequence of a hub and spoke distribution network. From wherever it started to the sorting hub, from there to the local distribution depot, thence to you.

Not unusual, everything taken to a central distribution hub, before transfer to an overnight trunker feed a local depot

Shearings did the same with their coach passengers. All taken to South Mimms and then transferred onto another coach which probably took you past your home a few hours later!
