Drives Direct of Nottingham…..Dave has supplied me with numerous Imo/Teco drives, never let me down.

Alternatively, Invertek are a UK designed/built/supply company with suppliers in the UK. Got my two from Engineers Mate.

Had a query, contacted Invertek direct and got the answer I was after.

I've fitted four of these HuangYang VFD for about £100 each for my Model Engineering friend. One has been in regular use for more than four years and not one has given any trouble. I think a lot of mythology exist about home workshop inverters, after all, few if any are working to tight schedules and do we actually need all the facilities some of these expensive industrial inverts offer. I have a preowned inverter on my Super, so old it has dip switches and was originally supplied by RS. I use slow speed when screw cutting and no signs of the motor over heating. Also no signs of the chuck becoming loose or off after switching of after a high speed run, could be I'm fortunate. John

I fitted a tec motor and inverted inverter to my lathe front inverter drive.com all went together nice and easy. The machine is much better to use

They wire up as easy as any other vfd. The challenge comes in the form of interpreting the Chinglish manual when dealing with the setting parameters. It can be more of a challenge for the less technically minded.

I believe one or more forum members has a set of parameters that will make the inverter work as required. Perhaps they will make themselves known via this thread?

I could work them out if I had the manual in front of me, but cant remember them all from memory/experience..

One of the things I liked about the HY inverters is the fact that the output stages are using discrete components rather than a module..Repair option is more feasable… If/when needed.

It's sounding to technical to me, I'm going to have to get help setting one up.

No problem….Tell us which inverter you go for…I'm sure the collective will have you up and running….

Hello Paul, if you go down the HuangYang VFD I'll send you a copy of the program which I used for my friends. By the way, there now is a youtube thingy which explain the programing things very well. I'm sure members will be only to glad to help you in any way as required. As for the motors, my friend picked up second ,hand motors very cheaply, which only needed the brass links moving to convert from Star to Delta. As the control voltages are very low a home brew control box can be made. Unfortunately Maplin has now gone which was a good source for variable resistors and switches. However, ESR at Cullercoats have almost the same range of components needed. John

Thank you very much John, if the right three phase Lathe comes available I don't think I will have any worries about running on an inverter

I went with Transwave no problems wiring/setting up the documentation that came with the unit was easy to understand I did need to ring Transwave with a question which Peter answered so 3 years later no issues

Try this Paul better quality Mitsubishi where i had a 2.2kw from in 2017, yet to wire it up. They were that much cheaper delivered than any where else at the time even with an extra filter £25 ish thrown in.

                                      **LINK**

Currently use a Direct Drives 1ph to 3ph 400v+ 10hp last 8 years absolutely useless for help, you dont want to know the price, more than doubled.

Beauty is you will only have to buy a new 2hp motor, personally i would go 3hp and an invertor. No messing about as theres no trips to wire in being a clutch. Cost of a rewound motor would exceed a new foreign motor.

On my old scrapped 140 1ph 240v i could face off 5 1/4" round aluminium 6082 taking 1/2" depth of cut power cross feed at 1000 rpm. Dont get me wrong it moaned but proved a point.
In fact theres a piccy on here taken about 2002.

I was one forum member (suggested by John Rudd on page 1) who posted vfd parameter settings in the following thread:

                                              VFD Choice

Read to the end to get the full story and don't be put off by the manual. It's not well written in my opinion, but, working through with common sense and help from others on the forum, anything is possible.
