I've seen many examples of peculiar instructions for mechanical and electronic machinery that's made in RoC, but this example of Chinglish is the weirdest that I have seen !

The function of the item is quite straightforward because it's simply a register plate for mounting a heater, but whatever has rabbits got to do with it😀img_20210116_113430621.jpg

It is amusing, and does look like unthinking use of a translation programme; but before we go ROFL-ing, let's ask ourselves if our knowledge of their language is any better!

You'd think they'd find an native English speaker to edit the text; maybe by simply e-posting the mss to their agents in the UK and USA for help.

Is this for a gas-fire of some sort? If so perhaps they mean rabbit's-tail flame shape, just as we refer to fish-tail flames.

Even so, the " Car Rice Gold " must be a very secret society indeed!

Is there, by any chance, a copy of the Chinese version available ?

… it would be interesting [and possibly useful] to run that through various translators.

At least someone understood the instructions!

Probably translated with one hand on the keyboard and the other flicking through the pages of a Mandarin / English dictionary.

That may set some hares, rather than rabbits, running!

Or is that a red herring?

Rather like the instructions for a German made pencil sharpener

"Sharp points upon pencils unobjectionable are"

If it all goes wrong obviously that will be be because you did not follow the instructions properly.wink

It reads rather like some of the computer generated text posted by Janelle Shane in her AI Weirdness blog.

You might want to submit it to this site:

"electronic machinery that's made in RoC"

Do you mean the RoC or the PRC, Trevor? English coming out of the RoC is generally of a higher standard.

No I'm afraid not Michael, the diesel heater kit of parts from which this plate is taken actually comes with a very simple and easy to follow instruction book, which to be fair does seem to be more common than it was years ago. It's the label on the register or mounting plate that amused me as soon as I checked through the contents.
