        Introduction

My name is Patrice Lemée and I am a metal sculptor. I came here asking advice about resistance soldering and realized from great advice and warm welcome I received that I need to hang around. I should have come here a long time ago since I am making models after all if only different subjects and that I use exactly the same tools and techniques you guys do. Techniques that are sadly getting lost these days so finding kindred souls is a blessing.

Hare are a few pics of my work.

So thanks again for welcoming me here and I look forward to learning and hopefully giving a little back too if I can. Feel free if you have any questions.

Oh and by the way if it wasn’t obvious English is my second language so pardon me if I sometimes don’t explain myself very clearly, don’t be afraid to let me know if I am not clear.

          Patrice,

Welcome. Your English is fine and your sculptures are superb.

I'd be really interested to learn about the techniques you are currently using please?

            Impressive work!

I don't really make models either, but this forum seems natural for all kinds of techniques, equipment and discussions in the small but larger than jewelry range. So I finally signed up too.

Welcome Patrice and, as others have said, no need to apologise for your English.

                Those sculptures are fantastic!

Welcome Patrice, some lovely work there, very very good indeed and imaginative and different too. I cant make my mind up between the loco with tortoise or the dog with umbrella as my favourite, both excellent.

A very big thank you, you guys are too kind. blush

As far as techniques it's mostly hand work (hammers, files, sandpaper, etc…) assisted by a few machines like a belt sander, lathe, mill, etc…

On a side note I do have an Instagram account where I post some progress and shop pics if anyone is interested.

Hi Patrice, beautiful work. I had a look at your Instagram link and it was interesting what machinery and tools that you use to make your sculptures on. Where are you based I suspect not in the UK just interested. I recently dabbled in a rotary garden sculpture for S.W. M. B.O. but not on your level.

David, that is lovely. Did you make the stained glass leaves too? I am from Canada by the way, more precisely Québec.

Sorry, it’s a subtlety of the English language

I was using it in the archaic sense of: “A skilled craftsman or inventor.”

Michael, no need to apologize, I love learning especially old world terms like that. "Artificer" sounds nice, I might adopt it. yes

I think many of us make decorative objects from time to time, but your work is beautifully finished and has a sense of humour too.

I can't say my work is up to your standard!

Well, mine is pretty simplistic – scrollsaw, blacking and dotting with a dowel and fine grinding paste, but as long as we're showin' off :-

Mick, that's a very ingenious way to use engine turning (or jeweling). I like it, that cormorant is very nice.
