How useful is high 5000rpm spindle speed in a mill

I have a Chester 16V mill and when running at top speed to engrave a spindle scale it got quite hot so i bought a cheap high speed spindle with a ER11 collet set. I just made a bracket which clamps round the exsisting spindle and now have both options of power at low speed and high speed milling and engraving.
