Good afternoon people,

I'm somewhere to the north of Inverness.

I've just taken delivery of a Colchester Student to replace an ancient and very tired Myford ML7. I'm also expecting a Harrison Vertical mill to be delivered imminently. No doubt I'll be looking for advice on a plethora of topics so thanks in advance for your patience and knowledge.

Hi Thor.

Initially most of the work is going to be making all the necessary and unnecessary tooling to allow enough accuracy to build a couple of projects I have in mind. Ultimately I want to build an orrery.

Hi Tim,

An orrery sounds like a fairly complex project, good luck. I have only made model steam engines.

An orrery will be quite a project.

You'll become quite good at gear cutting!
