        Hi,

I find the videos made by Joe Pieczynski well worth watching. Lots of information about using the Mill and Lathe. Well worth subscribing.

This Joe is new to me, thanks for the heads up. Another Joe I follow on YouTube is Cuppa Joe as he has made numerous modifications to a a round pillar mill/drill machine similar to the Warco Minor I own.

This old Tony , marc lecuyer ( that lazy machinist ), clickspring and i could go on and on and on !

one tip is to look on the channel you are viewing and check to see who they are subscribed to if they are allowing you to check – thats how i found most of the channels i watch.. One guy i have been waiting for to come back to making videos is mr crispin .

Don’t forget our very own youtube mega stars Stubb mandrel , Mrjasonsb and home metalworking workshop (Harold Hall).

Will YooToob vids one day replace magazines???

I find that the biggest problem with them is "can they be respected".

i.e. If a noob picks up the idea that they want to become a model engineer, how on earth do they know that what they are watching on Yootoob is anywhere near close to how they should go about it?

                    Now if ME&MEW were to have a Yootoob channel . . . . . . . !

For me, as a noob, I'm following "This Old Tony", Abom79, Blonidhacks, Learning Turning Metal (Our own Andrew Whale), Ade's Workshop, Keith Appleton… loads of great content.

I'm not sure any are teaching bad habits, I think it's a chance to look at all the ways it "can" be done, and then choosing a way that I'd like to follow. I think some things just don't make sense until you have your own tooling… take milling for example, Blondihacks has a great video on setting up the mill, and the tramming thing I kind of got, but last night I saw first hand why it's important on a piece of metal I was machining

                        Lots of great content.

Joe Pie is indeed an excellent channel to watch. I also enjoy anything by Tom Lipton (Oxtools) and a young English man called Mr. Crispin.

I think you have all named everyone I watch.

Watching their videos does however fill me with a sense of ability that I quite clearly don't have yet but practice makes perfect.

Than you for that, I've just watched the @wrong Foo' mill and I have exactly the same mill, with some tiny differences, very interesting.

Mostly old machine shop training videos.

There is one video on making a gear blank with a tapered bore- i don't know what the cutting fluid this guy was using ( looked like tar and probably toxic ) but i want some to play with !

As this thread has been resurrected (ie it has become ‘current&rsquo, I think the mods need to delete some of the youtube advertisers (of cheap rubbish from china) who promote items which now should come within the terms of the CoC.

I can see one name mentioned, who is ‘sponsored’ by one particular supplier of cheap rubbish (reject items as well as likely surplus goods).

And just for the record i now double check that any links to youtube or any website that i provide do not or have not done any reviews that would be in contradiction to the COD on this forum .

Whinging crap? My post was there to indicate a problem with the CoC, not your particular posting. But if the cap fits…. as they say….

JB clearly considered the point relevant and has removed a link, to at least one you-tuber, from this thread.

There is now no excuse (in the future), when someone transgresses the CoC on this point, to quote this thread as mitigation – because it contains links to inappropriate “employees’ of cheap rubbish sellers on internet selling platforms.

I particularly avoid those cheap sites that sell rejects or surpluses – unless I can afford to throw the items away if they are carp. Especially as their customer service is virtually non-existent. Advertising ‘through the back door’ has been oulawed on the forum. We now have a more level playing field for the good UK suppliers – even if the unit costs are, unsurprisingly, a little higher.

Perhaps you think that some of the forum advertisers/sponsors were whinging about the cheap competition from the rubbish suppliers? They were not – they were complaining of the free advertising on the forum afforded to these outlets – those who were often supplying unsafe (by european standards) kit – particularly wrt electrical safety/testing.
