I am starting the build of the Marshall Portable engine from ME 1976. How are the dummy rivets done around the boiler ?
How to
This is my guess. The rivits are set into countersunk holes in the wrapper before the boiler is soldered up, or there is a dummy wrapper.
I'm sure if you read the build articles in old MEs it will say.

Full instructions areshown on page 336 of the Sept 10th 1999 which is part of the Sissens Portable Engine construction notes
So it is, I bet its a job keeping the rivits in the holes as he says not tomake them a tight fit?? I can see the bubbling flux popping them all out now.
Many thanks for the replies but where can I find the sissons build info as I do not have that copy
