My first 6800 was £15 in 1977. I’m staggered that I was prepared to pay that much but back then I was prepared to pay close to £4 for a plastic disc just to listen to music. Inflation since then above 10x.
If any vintage computing enthusiasts are interested I have more EPROMS and 5.5″ disks (some unused) than you can shake a stick at which really need to find a new home, plus I have a programmer and eraser. I also have a few 8″ floppies. PM me if interested.
I used to repair equipment that used ealy Intel processors. Right back to the 4004. They have appreciated a bit 🙂
Nothing wrong with older processers running older software. A lot of industrial equipment etc is still running Windows XP perfectly well if not connected to the internet (risk of virus or other malware).
Biggest issue is W11 won’t run on older processors. This is just wrong IMHO.

while they don’t want you to run older processors, it is possible to bypass this and other restrictions.
