      Hi Jason,
I think it may be better if Brian confirms this measurement by using string or tape round the two pulleys in place of the belt before he orders one.

Lots of technical detail here: **LINK**

… but, if trying to ‘second source’ we still need pictures and measurements.

Interesting Michael, given that it now seems likely that the pitch is Pi based the PCD of the pully formula on your link would seem to suggest that it is the 2 Pi pitch as trying 1.5Pi pitch into that equation using Brian's diameters would seem not to give full teeth. Though as I said earlier it will depemd on where the measurements were take, if over the teeth then that will be different to root dia or the PCD which is between the two.

If Brian can count the pully teeth and see if they are 65/14 that would confirm a 2X belt.

Brian has said that a different length belt with the 1.5 pitch part of the specification seems to fit the pulleys.

So lets assume that his measurements were the OD of the pully. Teeth are approx 1mm high so lets say the PCD is half way.

This then give PCD diameters of 129 and 27 and that works with a 1.5X belt so now we need Brian to check and see if the tooth count is 86/18

It is also important to note the location of the pitch circle [d suffix o] … which is beyond the teeth of the pulley, in the line of the reinforcing cords in the belt.

                See diagram in the link

So that could make it more like 88/19T if we stick with the 1.5X

Just click on the camera button. (The next to last on the top line.)
That will display your albums and the picture files in them.
Select the file you want to display in your post and click on the OK button.

Have you measured the length of the belt path round the pulleys ? This would be a good approximation to the belt length.

Edit. I have just noticed your last post that you gave the number of teeth on the pulleys. These are the same as on the DB-10G.

                      Les.

Might be a close approximation to what yours was, Brian

or is that the one with the correct pitch but the wrong number of teeth ?

A really useful thread but are still yet to find an appropriate belt for the Chester DB8 (not the DB8VS), pretty sure the belt would be a M1.5 x Z118 x15 ( though the pulley would take a 19mm width belt. we have spoken to Chester, we bought a M1.5 xz124 x15 from ArcEuroTrade, too long but right pitch and have spoken to them.

Has anyone found one of these belts or found another that fits? Or has anyone modified their DB8 to take a different belt?

                                    Any thoughts, much appreciated. Richard
