Roger you do, time isn't free

Take a retired person on a basic OAP which I think is about 580 pounds for round figures per month divide that by 4 to get a weekly income and we get 145 pounds

Now divide that by 38,the hours in a working week and we finish up with 3.82 pounds per hour you are being paid
Anyone with extra income from other pensions will get subsequently more.

So next time you spend 3 hours pissing about with a 50p article it has actually cost you 11.45 pounds

So how much did it cost you to write that?

I've very deliberately NOT done a Business Case to justify my garage full of toys. It would prove conclusively that owning a Model Engineering Workshop is a very poor investment! Anyway, the trade should be grateful that I'm financially inept – I bought a Stephenson's ER32 Hexagonal Collet Block last week. Not because the tool will save money, rather it is to keep me amused during my second childhood.

But it doesn't work like that. I get my pension whatever I do or don't do. Whether I surf the net, read this forum or I'm in my workshop making swarf it has no affect on my income.

Libre Office and OpenOffice are fine for home use, but (having tried) I wouldn't want to rely on them for business use.

              Ummm, I do.

              Very successfully, too.

I do need IE8, so I run XP in a Virtualbox, so that, for entering 5 numbers on a web page once a week I can do that. When that web page is updated away from IE8-specific coding, I can forget about XP.

Now, I write software that uses OpenCL and OpenGL libraries, with spreadsheets and documents written with LibreOffice and LibreCalc. On Linux, of course.

My CNC machines use open-source software, and they run very well, too.

              Windows is soooo 1980s, (smile)

Have a look at Affinity Designer for windows and Mac and Affinity Photo, windows Mac and Ipad.

My oh my did that open a Hornets nest ! No not new to Ebay and certainly not dumb enough to be sucked in but curious to what others felt about such offers — as stated in my original post "If it looks to good to be true etc etc"

One thing is sure I will block them from my emails — never heard of them until searching for Photoshop Elements of Mac and they came up in the Google search linking to eBay ! From there I went to look at their site

Thanks to all for the comments — stay safe John
