I need to put a sharp 90 degree bend in 4mm dia brass rod. Will it bend cold or would I need to apply heat.
I would suggest that you bend it at red hot otherwise there is a good possibility that it will break.

Definitely hot Eric, 4 mm is quite a thick piece to bend. With 3 mm I had to use a Brake press and it was difficult.
