Hi, I am at the position of needing to find and fit a lubricator to the running board of my 5 inch gauge royal Scot. However I am at a loss which lubricator I need and the best way of fitting to the running board. If anyone owns a royal Scot with the lubricator mounted in the running board, can they please let me know which one to buy and how it’s mounted. Thanks

The July copy of ME&W had an article by Doug Hewson on fitting lubricators to a Standard 4.  The  Royal Scot being an LMS beast would be similar.  There are some cracking lost wax castings available for the Wakefield lubricator.

Perhaps not, according to Wikepedia the LMS used Silvertown lubricators, not Wakefield. BR put a lot of effort into standard fittings, even if the loco was based on pre nationalisation design

Only a rivet counter would know of course

17d miniatures sell castings for Silvertown, £70. Looks like a dummy to me but I could be wrong. There is also a chap selling 3D printed plastic for O gauge for £5, you might persuade him to do 5″g, he’d only have to scale his computer model. Chap in our club has a 5 inch Scot, I’ll try to remember to ask him where the real lubricator is when I next see him.

If you could ask Duncan. Thanks

This isn’t going to help. He has the lubricator under the running board on thd left side. Not prototypical at all. Next time he brings it to track ill get a photo, but he has a fair few locos, so dont hold your breath

Thanks Duncan. The lubricant or position on mine is mainly under the running board with just the lid above. But all the ones I have seen for sale don’t look like I am able to mount them under the running board. And the drawings like always are total rubbish .

Thanks, looks just like the one I need.
