Please identify

I have had these two identical brassy things for a long time and have often wondered what their purpose was. If I was forced to guess I would say they might – only might – be a pair of steam boiler injectors. However, there are a lot of very clever folk hereabouts and I’m hopeful that someone can identify their purpose with a little more certainty than my wild guess.

I’ll just point out the following:-

The large end and small end are externally threaded (very fine) and both look like the same thread pitch.

The end face on the largest diameter part carries a circular groove semi spherical in cross section (“O” ring groove?). The rest of the face inside the groove is tapered inwardly approx 2-3 degrees towards the central hole.

I originally intended chopping them up for projects but now I can’t bring myself to ruin such nicely machined objects. Maybe I’ll just polish them up and stick a couple of candles in ‘em!

Sorry Russell – these links used to work but I think Google has been tinkering again. What makes it worse is that this forum will not allow the post to be edited. I will just have to find a work round and post again with proper acess to the pics.

It looks to me like someone made some fancy candlesticks as an experiment .

AFAIK not anything to do with injectors or anything of that ilk.

the threads on each end are a mystery tho.

My first thought is that it is off a Fire Hose and goes between the nozzle and the hose connector ?
