hi there, im relatively new to model engineering, and have already wished i had a mill of some sort many of times,
so could anyone advise me on a mill costing around five to seven hundred pounds, there are lots of new mills from axminster and the like but they look quite flimsy, but what do i know.

      many thanks in advance

          Hi,

There a number of threads on this forum already existing concerning this very subject. Have a search because there are some very useful comments about mills at the lower end of this price range.

One thing I will point out through bitter experience: don’t fall into the trap like I did of considering the maximum weight you can handle. Mills can be dismantled, and then rebuilt in their final position. I bought a Warco MiniMill on this basis – had I realised, I may well have bought a bigger, eg X3 type, mill.

ps, I don’t regret the MiniMill, it’s just that bigger is almost always better.
