Will it detect and give way to small sailing boats?

            Sometimes

Some small boats are terrible radar targets, presumably these things have a half decent short range system for the final few hundred yards

In rough weather small stuff can be virtually invisible

A couple of pretty big cargo boats snuck through the British blockade in the Falklands war

The Gulf of Aqaba is absolutely teeming with small Israeli craft at night along the border zone with Jordan/Saudi and are great for testing your radar skills
