Thank you. A case of buffer overflow, perhaps?

Probably a case of embedding the wrong link

Funnily enough I'm currently making a pair of 3D printed 'sun compasses'. One is for a retired couple, both ex-schoolteachers, from my astronomy club who used to use simple versions for an educational activity – tracking the sun in altr and az for a schoolday. They wanted something more robust, but I didn't want to commit to a huge brass project (although it could have looked great).

Just hope the sun is not to strong to distort the plastic or make it brittle in a few yearswink

Thank you for exposing this old print to the light of day! Sun compasses and sun dials would seem to be an excellent school project.

It looks as though I should have clicked the Link icon rather than the Image one; I know I am not the only member who struggles with this software and would gladly exchange the Smiley icon for a Help button. It's awkward to have to go to the website FAQs in mid-edit.

I think somebody suggested a dummy (!) thread where we could experiment rather than inflict our mistakes on other members.

You'll be wanting this thread then.

Funnily enough you can get a UV stabilised filament called ASA.

And it's legal, decent, honest and truthful!

That was indeed the one I had in mind.

I have sent you a PM.

There is an interesting reference to the Vikings' use of the sun compass and other navigational aids in this BBC item:
