HELLO , NEW MEMBER HERE I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOUR ADVISE , I HAVE INHERITED A 3 I/2 GAUGE STANIER JUBILLE TANK ENGINE AND THE REGULATOR IS STUCK ( CLOSED ) AND I CANNOT MOVE-IT , STANDING FOR MANY YEARS WITH OUT USE , IS THERE ANY WAY THAT IT CAN BE FREED , THE MOTION SEEMS TO HAVE A SLITE PASUE AT ONE POINT AND THEN I CAN TURN THE WHEELS AGAIN SO YOUR THOUGHTS AND HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED .

Even if it did work, I would hope you were not intending to just try and 'steam it up' !

Back to the problem, first remove the dome and have a look inside.

My guess is , you will break a few screws doing this, so that will slow things down a bit.

Now , see if you can see any movement at all between what you are trying to move( the regulator handle) and the mechanism of the regulator.

If so,fill the boiler with a weak citric acid solution, go to bed. When you get up just try, gently, to move things again.

If not, you will have to remove the whole assembly from the backhead ( more broken screws) and do it properly.

You need to remove the dome, just in case it has a pipe up into it from the regulator tube.

if it has a pipe ,remove it.

Now, smokebox end .

When you removed all that pipework , you should have seen a piece of plain pipe with an O-ring seal sticking out

into the end with all the pipes on.

Pray you did , because otherwise it will be impossible to get out without breaking something.

Back to the large flanged end on the boiler backhead.

You say you have removed all the screws, well done.

Now you have to be brutal and somehow or other grip, pull and twist that flange out of the boiler.

All of the regulator tube has to come out.

There is no other way.
