      Hi everybody,
I was browsing a local tool shop yesterday and I spotted this,
      https://www.starrett.co.uk/shop/bandsawmachines/bench_top_band_saw/s1105_benchtop/

A bench top bandsaw by Starrett. It looked and felt good quality. I did a bit of online searching for more information or reviews on them but there doesn’t seem to be much in English. It appears that they have been available in southern Europe and South America for a while.

The one in the shop had made in Italy on it.
410 euro is the price here ( (Ireland)
Anyone come across these or have one? I d love to hear how you find it, kinda tempted myself.

This looks like a re-badged "Femi" bandsaw, made in Italy. Femi make a wide range, a typical small one here **LINK**

Jason B uses a Femi and is happy with it, he may respond.

Also several on ebay, for example **LINK**

Jason B mentions his here  http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=123636

also Paul Lousick on the same thread.

Edit – Don't know why the thread reference hasn't come up as a LINK

If it is a re-badged Femi … that ebay example would appear to make Starrett's price rather good.

The Femi 780 can be had from Italy via ebay for about the same price so only extra cost may be import duty and the post offices £8 or so as both Starrett and the Italian one would need VAT adding. I got the more powerful 782XL for lesssmiley

Yep Like mine a lot and as I siad in one of the earlier threads you can get a nice little table for it to use vertically.

In the states they are sold as "HEM" saws

Thanks everyone for the information, there is quite a bit of discussion online about the femi versions.
Anyone that has one of these seems happy with them so think I ll call in for another look during the week.

Well, I picked up the saw this evening. After a few checks I ran it up.
The motor is louder than I expected but everything seems nicely finished and fairly strong.
The first cut was in a lump of 4″ channel iron (it was the nearest thing !) And it cut quickly and true. So no excuse now not to crack on in the workshop !
