      Hello All

I'm looking at buying a new smaller mill and i've noticed that in the specs form all the usual suppliers that there is no lock on the Z axis, there is on the quills, but not on the head itself. why is this? your thoughts please.

thanks in advance for all your replys

      regards

      Paul

the Sieg X1 has a lock on head via the extended screw in gib strip , there is a quill lock by a rather awkward all head screw

I would stay well clear if it hasnt a lock on every axis plus quill more so on a weak machine. Have a closer look before dismissing.

Smaller than what? I have a Warco WM14 benchtop, locks on all axes.

              Rob.

                Hi Rob

                I currently have a tom senior M1

I maybe selling that and getting a bench top one with plenty of daylight.

currently looking at SX2.7 AMAT45V and Warco GH universal

                regards

                Paul

I think it's probably a boob in the specification. In Warco's GH picture you can just see the locking levers if you look carefully. (The most obvious lever is behind the boss of the quill handle.) The picture of the AMAT45V I found is angled so they aren't in shot but I'd be surprised if they weren't there.
