Y Axis DRO problem

I have a Warco Mill with theiur X, Y and Z DRO

The Y axis DRO is playing up. It did this once before and it was just a case of switching the DRO off and then on again.

I suspect its faulty or not been fitted correctly causing it to be damamged over time. I need to check but think its still in warranty

Any idea or should I just ring Warco?

They can do that when the read head is not quite on one increment or the next, just move the table a fraction and it should stop

Theres nothing wrong with your DRO…mine sometimes does exactly the same and as Jason states, it is between increments.

I was moving the table at least 3 inches

In that case you have a problem, thought the table was stationary

Try swaping the wires between the X and Y scales as that should how if the problem is in the scale or the readout.

Done that and still the Y scale not reading properly

Hopefully it is still under warranty and they should replace it .

At least you know it is not the scales so an easy change over .

I read somewhere , maybe another forum of a fault with the display where it had to be reset on power up which it should never have to so maybe a proliferationation of dodgy displays coming out of china ?

I think you missunderstood. The display is fine, its the scale thats faulty

Have you checked that the read head is correctly positioned relative to the scale?

There isn't a great deal of margin for error. I had a similar thing happen when a mounting bolt on which I had not used locking compound allowed the read head to slip slightly out of position.

Could be coolant or dust got in the scale, does the seal strip work properly?

Nothing inside, clean.

Warco have agree the unit is faulty and they will replace it

However their site is showing out of stock for the 250mm scale. I wonder if a 300mm one will fit?
