I have just wasted 3/4 of an hour creating a new thread and started adding photos when the whole lot disappeared. Any ideas where it went?

Quite possibly timed out if you were posting for that long. try doing it over a few posts rather than one.

It turned up its toes as soon as I tried to add the second photo.

Mart – It happened to me once. These days I make sure the pics are in the album before creating saved text in Word after which I paste into the dialogue box. Just a matter then of adding the photo/s. Maybe not completely foolproof but it works for me. ( Pete – can you let him have a postcode ?)

When a post is typed into the editor window, everything stays local to your machine until the 'Add Posting' button is clicked. If the server times-out, or the network misbehaves, or your PC or Browser misfire, then – as far as I can tell – the content is wiped.

I prepare long posts with a word processor first and only paste text into the forum editor screen when it's ready to go. Much less risk of a time-out because pasting is quick and there's still a master copy if the link breaks. Also helps manage long posts: a size limit makes it necessary to split large contributions across two or more posts. Easier and safer to work from a master.

I have just created two new threads with pictures, and in both, the text has been lost in amongst the pics. I tried to avoid the timeout problem.
