Hi thanks for identifying my previous item this might be more of a head scratcher as I cant see any markings my father had several lathes but this looks a lot different than those the motor is a Crompton-Parkinson and the chuck is a 3 jaw Pratt Bernard thats all I know so any help would be greatfuly appreciated. Thanks in advance

A front view of the beast might help! It looks to be very short between centres, perhaps a special purpose device?

Managed to figure the pics. The bar on the right seems to engage something and the motor is mounted on an adjustable plate for the different cogs so not sure what you may all think it is?

It looks like a shop-made item ie a one off by an individual worker.
