Unidentified lathe

Whilst visiting Warwick Castle yesterday with my good wife, I came across this little lathe in the Mill & Engine house. Judging by the amount of rust & cobwebs, it obviously hadn’t been used in many a year, the Engine house not having been used since the 1950’s.

Can anyone identify it from the picture below? Apologies for the poor quality of the photo but the lighting level was very low & there was a rather ugly guard over the whole thing.

A bar bed, Wade or Drummond spring to mind, looks too small to be a Drummond.

You're both wrong. The mesh is there to stop 'Super Adept Man' from nicking it…

I saw this lathe a year or so ago. It is a CAV Wade lathe.

Thanks for the suggestion but according to lathes.co.uk the EW has a hollow box section bed, ground on the top, whereas the one in my photo has a round bed.

I still reckon Nick’s suggestion of a Velux is correct.

Not an EW lathe. Velox appears to be right with the leadscrew supported in a bearing at one end only like the Adept. For a few minutes I thought that it was a Portass round bed lathe, but that has bearings at both ends of the leadscrew.
