As per my introductory post, I am the Company Secretary of the Robey Trust in Tavistock….. We play with full sized steam engines, trying to keep steam engineering heritage alive… We have a growing historical collection of items that are manufactured by Robey & Co. Ltd of Lincoln… 7 road vehicles (although 2 are under restoration at present), plus around 36 stationary engines.

The Trust was founded 33 years ago (not by me… I was born that year!), starting with a Tandem Roller found in the local playground…. It grew from there, the founder researching and acquiring more and more engines… I don't think he ever anticipated it growing in to what it is now….

To say that this is an enjoyable hobby is an understatement…. I absolutely love it… The collection we have is World Class and one of the few in the world that centre around ONE make of manufacture.

Tavistock is kind of a long way from Lincoln. Which end is the collection or is it distributed? I recall seeing a portable engine, possibly a Robey at a steam museum about 20 years ago, possibly the Dingles museum before it turned into a fairground museum.
