Taper Reamer and Classifieds

I am looking for suggestions on making a taper reamer for woodworking.

The reamer needs to go up to 35mm with a 6deg taper.

Any advice on the best way to achieve this would be appreciated.

I also want to qualify to use the classifieds

Simple method would be to turn your taper on a piece of silver steel and then mill away half the diameter and then harden & temper. This method is often used for cutting tapers in steam fittings though you will get some tearing in wood depending on grain direction. Could be cleaned up with abrasive paper wrapped around a similar tapered plug.

Is the reamer wanted for making a musical instrument? I am fairly sure that process has been covered in The Woodworker magazine.
