steel in the north west

hi

can any one tell me where they buy their steel in the north west i live in St. Helens so any where near there would be a help i have used macklesfield and blackgates at leeds but they are a bit of a drag

i used to be able to buy in st helens but no longer can any help would be appreciated

I too would be interested if anyone knows of steel (in small quantities) suppliers in the North West. I live near Runcorn.

I have found Meserymetal to be very good. Cheaper to buy a full length from them than a foot from model engineering suppliers. They will also supply short lengths and have a very wide range of stock . http://www.merseymetals.co.uk/contact.html  Give them a ring and normally the stuff if ready to pick up after a couple of hours. They also cut down 6 meter lengths to fit in the car free of charge.

                           i will try them when i next need some steel i bought a length of 10x30x 6mtrs localy from a steel stock holder and it only cost me £15 so i now  have 4 mtrs spare it will no doubt come in usefull some time
