Can anyone recommend a place that offers small amounts of alloy steel such as 4340 or 6150? Thanks.

What part of the world are you in?

Those are American AISI code numbers so best bought in the US, if you are in another part of the world look up a suitable equivalent and see what's available locally.

For example 4340 would be EN24T which can be found from many suppliers in the UK, M-Machine do small amounts

Thanks Jason, no wonder I was having difficulty with these types! I will try M-Machine tomorrow morning. I am looking for an alloy that resists stress fractures when repeatedly bashed to and fro (a rather small diameter reversing rod for table feed  reverse on a Surface Grinding machine)
