Please can anyone tell me where I can buy an axle pump for the Simplex? Mine has disintegrated when the piston left the bore and pushed the cylinder assembly up under the boiler. I bought the same size OD pump from Polly Models [great service BTW] but the piston is half the size of the original. They do supply a larger one but it has a larger diameter body and without buying it I don't know if it will still fit in the space of if I have enough meat in the mounting. I would like not to have to remove the wheels again.

Many entries on the forum have been read and I am a little confused to say the least Simplex, Super Simplex modified etc..

Any help much appreciated. I have circulated the members in my MEclub but have parted with all my old copies of ME.

As a guess, the orignal pump would have been built to the plans of the engine. i would think it easier to make a new pump than modify another to fit

You would think that, but this is a bought one exactly the same as the Pollymodel item but with a larger piston in the same size housing.

              Hi Richard,

I am aware that parts of the original Simplex are inaccessible to say the least and that the frame stay holding the original pump does indead require dropping the wheels to gain access to the screws in the frame to allow removal.

I am not sure how this all fits in with your loco with a commercial pump fitted. I am not 'au fait' these days with what is sold commercially for some fittings, but I would have thought a vertical frame stretcher would be required for the pump, which Simplex does not have.

How can the pump ram come out of the pump body then push up the pump body casting towards the boiler? The pump ram would drop down?

Why would the pump ram come out of the pump body?

              A few things are amiss.

Have you thought of scrapping the axlepump and substituting a second injector?

              Cheers,

              Julian
