Simples Piston Removal

Hi just tried to help my friend remove his pistons so he can change his piston Rings.

We removed the front covers of the Cylinders then removed the pin rod now turns.

We have not been able to get the Rod out we have even tried tapping valve gear back then he tried with grips twisting to free it.

Still will not come free to draw the piston out.

He has tried putting blow lamp on getting really hot and tried tapping back it will not move.

Any suggestions please

Not enough information. What is the piston in? Do you have photos?

are there holes in the outer face of the piston

many rods are screwd into the crosshead . A pin spanner can bre made to wind it out if the holes are there

Yes their are two holes in the Piston thank you that will work.

Pistons are now out new piston Rings ready to fit.

Thank you for your help one Super Simlex soon be back on the Track.

The Loco had been standing for 6 years with cast Iron cylinders and Pistons.

Very light rust but able to clean up.
