I'm thinking about my next project for the winter, and fancy building a Robinson hot air engine. I know there are suppliers of kits and drawings but like to save money. I've got several illustrations in books but these are not good enough to scale from. Does anyone have some basic dimensions ? Bore and stroke of power piston and displacer should be enough. I'm planning something like 1" to 1 1/2" bore power piston, making all from stock matl. if possible.

Ian- I'm still working on other things, including how to get photos onto the computer. If I ever get there have lots of pics to bore everybody. Hope to start collecting the bits soon.

Gordon, I know how frustrating it is, first to get the photos, then get them on the computer, once I got there it only took a couple of hours to get the things into an album, once I worked out the need to reduce the photos to 640 x 480. Getting them on the computer should not be to big a problem once you have the program for your camera loaded(mind you that took about as long as working out how to get them back out). My method of learning about computers, push a button, then spend the next hour finding out what I did wrong. Ian S C

The system doesn't limit the size of photos you can upload, but generally they will display at 1024 pixels wide, so there's no point uploading larger images.

If they are bigger than about 750kb and you try to upload five at a time the system can time out. The solutions are threefold:

                1. Resample the pictures to a smaller size, try a 50% reduction for starters, it doesn't have to be exactly 1024 pixels across.
                2. Increase the jpeg compression number. This gives a smaller file (should not be necessary for 1024 pixel wide images)
                3. If you aren't good at resampling pictures, just try uploading them one or two at a time.

Neil, you can probably get bigger size on Broadband, I'm on dial up, if I go too big, this thing just won't do it, also it would take half the evening to load. Ian S C
