Request for a Slot to be Milled in a Shaft

I have a Taig tailstock drilling spindle that I wish to adapt to fit a Flexispeed. The spindle is 13mm OD and, is a plain shaft with a collar, a thread and a point at one end. I should like a slot 600mm long, 3mm wide and 1mm deep milling into it.

Would anyone be willing to give a price to do this for me, please? I lack milling facilities.

If its the one with a thread and 60deg cone on the end its hard as I have one in my hand and have tested it. Perhaps it might be better to make a new one from PGMS as in my previous post.

600 mm long would be a horizontal mill job.

The spindle isn’t 13mm either. Its nominally 0.497″ or 12.624mm. As to why its such an awkward size – who knows. !/2″ would have been far nicer. 1/2″ ground bar will not go in.

Yes, it is one of those, although mine appears not to be hardened as it can be filled quite easily.

True and I can see how that could help, but I want a slot so that a locating screw can be put in there to stop the shaft from spinning.

Just to clarify, the length of the slot is 60mm, not 600mm.

I am in Aylesbury, but the part is small enough to post easily.

Leaving aside the exact diameter of the piece, the spindle fits snugly into the tailstock casting.
