        Hi Guys

Can anyone out there help me, I own a kity Woodworking Machine and need to fit a new blade to my table saw.

The Trend saw blade I want has a 30mm diameter bore and it's plate thickness is 1.6mm (Trends part number is CSB/22048).

I need a reducing bush 30mm O/D with a 15mm I/D to suit the diameter of the arbor on my machine.

I think a bush 1.2mm thick should be suitable so it's slightly thinner than the saw blade, so the clamping plates will clamp the saw blade and not the bush.

Question: Is there anyone out there who could make me one of these bushes, obviously the hole in the centre of the bush will need to be concentric with the O/D otherwise I will end up with a very bouncy saw, not good for cutting wood .

I've tried getting a bush from Bosch but they have now discontinued them and I don't know where else to try.

I'm happy to pay someone for their time if they can help me out.

        Cheers

        Clive

Have you tried Axminster tools they do a lot of reducing bushes for blade, Likewise Wealdon tools.

Trend do that size in 1.8mm if you could get away with that, their thinner ones don't do 15mm ID

Aren't your flanges (clamping plates) recessed?

Obviously, there is little point in the bush being thicker than the plate but it might as well be as thick so as to give maximum contact with saw and spindle.

I machined a slight recess on one of the side plates on the spindle and it works fine. Either make a new plate with a recess or if not needed later just turn plate around. It all works OK for me.

I don't think the thickness of the adaptor bush is critical. On my Kity the blade securing "washers" are about 2" dia and are concave so they only grip at the outer circumference. There is plenty of room for a bush slightly thicker than the blade without it touching the clamp s.

                    Thanks for your replies fellas

Jason as you suggested I’ve just tried Aximinster and they don’t seem to have anything thinner than 2mm which of course is thicker than the saw blade, unless I try to rub it down, as well as my fingers :0

                    Ega

Sods law, my clamping plates aren’t recessed.

                    Clive

Unfortunately I don’t have any metalwork machinery for doing what you have suggested.

                      Hi Robbo

I don't know which Kity machine you have, but mine is the old 617 and the clamping plates on it are kind of ribbed on the inside and I've just tried a 2mm thick washer between them and as a result they do not touch on the outer diameter, so it could affect the clamping.

I'll try and post a photo of them, it's better than trying to describe them.

I have made more sawblade bushes than I have had good dinners, and many of them long before I ever had a lathe.Pieces of round tubing or even a thick washer can be used, dont laugh,it works,I,ve been there, done that.

All you need is a drill and a good file to produce a bush any size you need.

AS is often the case, responses are limited because we don't know where the OP is, so we don't risk making an offer only to find that the postage is ridiculous and the customs will probably confiscate it.

Please, everyone, stand back and look at your message before you send it, and ask 'have I given all the info which others will need?' It's for your own benefit, honest.

                            Cheers, Tim

Agree with Tim. A location would be good. Responders should not have to search for or guess.

Same problem with a previous thread. He was in Stafford, then.

                                OK fellas

Thanks for all your replies, someone has kindly offered to make a bush for me.

I understand what Larry is saying about using a piece of tube, thing is there never seems to be a piece kicking around the right size, so by the time ones been located on e-bay, I'd rather give a guy the price of drink for his trouble who with right equipment will make a better job than me hack sawing and filing one to shape.

                                Thanks again

Thank you for your comments, as far as postage is concerned you have it all wrong, I don’t come on the forum expecting anyone to help for free, well certainly not pay for materials, postage and their time.

If I’ve missed out my location that’s easily rectified, but as far as I’m aware there are no customs between

                                  Powys UK and Stafford UK.

Thanks once again for your help

I, too, strongly agree with Tim Stevens point both here and in general; it's often much easier to help someone nearby and very easy to give some indication of whereabouts via the public profile.

In the present case, were I doing the job I would have welcomed the opportunity to fit the bush to the blade even if the spindle were not available to check the fit of the bore. Commercial blades, bushes and spindles are all made to tolerances and a properly shop-made item is likely to be a better job than the bought item; I have just had to correct an expensive blade (by a Swiss maker, no less) which was slightly under-sized in the bore.

I am glad that someone has stepped up to the (saw) plate to help Clive B 1. Perhaps those flanges could receive some attention also.

                                          Hello Collin

Thank you for your kind offer, I will certainly bear you in mind when I next need something making, which I’m sure I will.

No doubt some small tool or another, either for my woodwork machine or something which will facilitate repairing either of my cars, they are getting a bit old now, a bit like myself smiley.
