My "new" bench vice is a Record74. After removing 70 years of grime and giving it a lick of paint it is ready for work.After mounting it to the bench I noticed some nearly illegible writing on the lead screw cover. What I can make out is:

Record colonial &……… Think it says patent or pat pending at the end . Anybody have one in better shape thet can help?

Yngvar, looks like 'Colonial & Foreign Patents Pending' to me, which would have been the usage a good while ago !
