When using a surface grinder, surly the tollerance is lost from the start for the grind to the end of each pass as the stone its self must wear down a tad no ???

Only I have not long ago bought my self a used Clarkson tool and cutter grinder,

my minds was running wild with what other jobs I can do with it, and although I know its not a true surface grinder in the sence of its not build specifically for that,

I am sure I might be able to use it on a less important job.

that just got me thinking onto how surface grinders work and how the stone wearing out must affect the tolerance

You make your final cut a very light one so that wear on the stone is a minimal number of tads over the course of the full surface.

Surface grinders benefit from a "spring" pass also.

The phrase, to make it look like one knows what one is talking about, is "spark out" pass.
