I could make a square pocket for the tool and reduce the bottom of the tool holder to 2mm for 1/2″ tools.

We have the same on some of our AMABL210 Machines we do sell a basic QCTP that has a large bore cut out around 18mm which fits perfectly to our machines it might be a option for you as well.

          Kind Regards

Thanks for posting this. I normally use a four way but I think something like this would be very handy for use with a boring bar. 😉

Vic in your opinion, what should be the dimensions of the square and rounded seats for boring bars?

              Thanks.

George Thomas designed quite a few shop made tool holders including boring bars to be used in his Myford 4 way tool post that would also work just as well with any qctp. I think that alone is worth the price of the book. https://www.teepublishing.co.uk/books/in-your-workshop/model-engineers-workshop-manual/

                  Thanks.

I’m not sure, I’d have to sort out some of my boring bars and take some measurements.
