Press fitting, heat fitting, freeze fitting?

Hello all

I need to get disks fitted near one end of lengths of extruded aluminium tubing (6082). 2", 2.25" and 3.5" diameters. So as to create bases.

I have been quoted for welding (too expensive). Does anyone have a sense of what is possible and what the most cost effective solution could be.

Are the disks just flat or could they have step to locate them securely? Also, is there any load or heat on them in use?

If they are just a stand with no forces involved then either a press fit or heat shrink or adhesive may be satisfactory.

Hi Simon have you got a drawing, what are they for and what sort of forces are involved. If they are only light duty and don't carry much load I would turn a small shoulder and shrink fit but if have a large load you can drill and tap on the joint and screw a grub screw in to secure in three or four places around the diamiter.

And how thick are the discs ? If they are not thick enough for a glued joint then perhaps "LUMIWELD" would work

Thanks to all of you. The disks will be 1.5-2mm and it’s a very light duty application. I will explore adhesives via Permabond. Next stop Lumiweld – that’ s not a system I was aware of. Thank you again.
