Hello. I know this is off at a bit of a tangent. As a child I got interested in radio, (the nuts and bolts of not the pillocks you hear on it). Our school library only had one book on the subject, “The Encyclopaedia of Wireless”. It was one of those old fashioned books, thicker than it was wide! Since then I’ve been looking for a copy and never seen one. Just wondered if anyone out there knows of a copy. There is a similar title “The Wireless Constructors Encyclopaedia”. Which I have a copy of.

Love to find one for old times sake. Where my interest in radio & engineering all started.

You would be welcome to this one.  My dad used to make one valve radios as a young lad and had a licence to receive radio waves signed by the King (rubber stamp).

Have you tried looking at the http://www.worldradiohistory.com website?

Go to the UK section on the first page and this narrows down the search a bit.

There is the Harmsworth Radio encyclopedia – a part work from 1923 in 20 parts and a modern Encyclopedia of Radio(2003) with 1700+ pages

Also complete sets of Babani paperback books, Practical Wireless, ETI Wireless World and similar and most of the computer magazines.

          All free too!

Hi old fool, I have this one, which is 200mm tall, 140mm wide and 60mm thick, which is very old, but I don’t know if it’s the sort of thing your looking for.

Thanks for the replies, not had time to follow up on the links yet. The book in Nick’s post is one I already have, they seem quite common. The one I’ve been looking for is pure nostalgia. Being the start of a lifetime of doing electrical and mechanical engineering. People who have a hobby in one sort of practical construction seem to embrace several.

Thanks again. I’ll get back when I’ve had chance to  check the links.       Bob
