New workshop and universal machine tool advice…

I’m in the process of setting up a new workshop for the purposes of small model engineering projects (marine steam engines, etc) and ship model making (plank-on-frame). My workshop will be 10′ x 8′, and will be completely self-contained.

 

As far as machine tools an EMCO Unimat 3 plus accessories would probably suit my purposes. However, I’d appreciate advice from others, more experienced than me, including where to purchase from. I need to be able to machine – turn, mill and drill, etc – brass and occasionally mild steel, and hardwoods (box, pear, sycamore, etc).
