          The smaller tool in the image looks like a gimlet, minus a handle; used for making holes to start wood-screws. So, by association, the other tool is a Birmingham (Brumagem) screwdriver, for finishing the job.

            I suspect that a better photograph might reveal a Patent No.

              I have a pin vice that is very similar to the picture it has the patina of a well used tool. My father was a working clockmaker making skeleton and orrery clocks, I inherited most of his hand tools so my guess is it was used in clockmaking possibly for holding wheels and polishing pivots.

              I never took to clockmaking most of it has never been used.

                How do you know I put up an image if you can’t see it?

                  It was just showing a small green missing image Icon when I looked.
